Found this little gem while cleaning out the garage.. The Official MWC cast & crew bowling shirt…

So in my recent purge of the garage at my home here in LA, I came across a box with this little treasure… the official MWC cast & crew bowling shirt…that belonged to my REAL mom, Kay. (of course I couldn’t find my own lol)

The Married W/ Children cast and crew were always very much into bowling. We sometimes would go bowling after the show, or after taping, and had a couple wrap parties there as well (that were WILD, especially in the early days of the show) at a local bowling alley that at the time was called the Sports Center, next to the old Jerry’s deli on Ventura Boulevard. It was quite the scene and a lot of folks would end up there after a night at the bar. It was a ton of fun. And on Friday nights after we taped the show we would take over a few lanes and have a blast with the cast & crew I think this obsession originated from Ron Leavitt, the co-creator of the show, who was super into bowling, and it just kind of trickled down to the rest of us, hence a lot of the references to bowling and that awesome special episode we did where we went to bowl against the other family 😂. I have to rewatch the episode. But this bowling shirt is in the same colors that I believe we wore in that episode, and the Producers made these replica shirts but with the Married W/ Children logo on the back for the Cast and crew. I have a lot of fond memories of going there even as young as when my mom would still come with me ha ha… And it went on into my late teens an early 20s that I would still frequent that bowling alley. I think it’s called PINZ now. So thankful that I came across this though so I can fold it in a box and have my children find it when I’m dead and gone and throw it away. Whoa Bundy! 🎳

yeesh. tough question after all these years. while I’d like to say me, i can remember well enough to know that’s not the case ha. I do remember Ron Leavitt being very good actually. But I think it was one of the lighting guys that was the real bowler of the bunch. can’t remember his name right now

    What a treasure!

What was you bowling average? I think I broke 200 once in my life back in the day, but very sporadically bowled throughout my life. Perhaps it’s time to give it a go again. Bundy Club league?

Ha yea, once the show became a smash hit, I wouldn’t be caught dead in something like this for two reasons, the first being I was always kind of hidingm like in a hat and sunglasses etc (even though some people would recognize me right through the disguise..that, and apparently my voice gave me away,, can’t tell you how many times I gave myself away by flapping my face lol. The other reason being i would feel like I was TRYING to bring attention to myself.. same reason I would never wear something like this in public now. Only here on Bundy Club 😂😂. I DO however like to rock my Bundy Club trucker hat tho 💯. I’m sure we’ll be getting you elite members some hats soon!! Stay tuned!

    Wow… what a treasure.
And honestly, the bowling shirt still looks pretty good on you (even when it’s from your mum).
This honestly made me wonder what that experience must have been like back then.
I can imagine that in the earlier years it was probably still possible — and wearing the show bowling shirts was almost fun promotion for the show too.
But what was it like later on, once the show became really big?
I mean… not all fans are as well-behaved as we are here 😏

@david Hey David! If you get ahold of David Garrison, we should do a two episode of Steve’s best Two. “Buck Saves The Day”, where Al & Steve take Bud & his friends boyscout camping trip and Steve gets poison Ivy. One of my faves, along with, “The Razors Edge” where Steve and Al fight Marcy to keep Steve’s Beard! Be an awesome watch!

Of course you found Mom’s bowling shirt and not your own. That’s the most Bundy thing ever. And those Friday night bowling sessions after taping were wild. I was too young for most of the good stuff, but I saw enough to know that what happens at the Sports Center stays at the Sports Center. Bundy Club bowling league? I’m in. Fair warning, Grandmaster B bowls like he raps. With maximum confidence and minimum accuracy.

That’s wild!! So cool. This cast not only had the best show, you are the coolest and most down to earth people. The best! Another bowling ep.. the infamous “Peggy turns 300” when on her birthday Peg beats Al’s freshly broken Puggy Weaver record.

Peggy: you’re takin me bowling on my birthday??
    Al: it’s your birthday?!?!
    😂😂

    Great episode.
