Real Bundy House (2023)

I think I mentioned this during our first Zoom, but I grew up about two blocks from the real Bundy house in Deerfield, Illinois.

My family moved away when I was 10, and, ironically, I wasn’t even allowed to watch “Married… with Children” at the time.

Years later, I came across an article mentioning that the house used for the Bundys’ exterior shots was in Deerfield. I couldn’t believe it. During a visit back home a few years ago, my family and I were driving around revisiting the old neighborhood and favorite spots. On a whim, I plugged the Bundy house address into Google Maps.

To my surprise, it showed the house was only about 1,000 feet away from where we were standing. Out of every street in America, we happened to be that close without even planning it.

So we drove down the road, made a right turn, and there it was. The Bundy house. It felt surreal seeing a television landmark sitting in a neighborhood I knew so well growing up.

Another fun fact: Deerfield is also home to the training facility featured prominently in “The Last Dance” documentary about the Chicago Bulls dynasty.

If you decide to make the trip to see the house, do yourself a favor and drive about 10 minutes east to Highland Park. Stop at Michael’s and grab an authentic Chicago-style hot dog. Trust me—you won’t regret it.

I would love to take a trip out there and see it!

I do not understand how people that own these famous houses from movies or tv shows, don’t try to capitalize on them more. There are so many iconic houses I see where people post pictures of them visiting, but the owners don’t have any fun Easter eggs for fans.

Sometimes these properties transcend into something bigger and I, for example, would definitely park a Dodge outside, put some lawn chairs on the roof from time to time, get a cardboard cutout of the family to stand in a window… prop replicas…anything… for the fun and community aspect of it.

Put out a donation QR code and keep these iconic homes alive!

so cool that you were that close to it and didn’t even know it. I have never benn there in person, but next time I visit Chicago, I’m going to take a picture in front of it. i wonder if anyone drives by and yells out “Whoa Bundy?”

Funniest part is multiple friends who still live there had no idea until I posted the photo on Facebook a year ago

Two blocks from the Bundy house and nobody knew? That tracks. Greatness in this family always goes unnoticed, just ask me. If they ever do a tour, warn them the real Al never paid the mortgage on time either. Cool piece of history right in your backyard.
