Last night felt like an abomination for me. For beginners, something was wrong on my end of the zoom. I could not see myself on the couch, nor did I see the couch at all during the panel. My screen would only show the person who was talking. Second, I try to skip the FanBoy questions and ask something else about their career or something more thoughtful about their character & work. I felt like Al must have felt when he brought gifts for IronHead Haynes, only to see them fall flat. The following are questions and thoughts that I had jotted down before going live…
Questions Related to the Character and Show:
-Who was your favorite person to work with?
-Do you have a favorite memory?
-Did you take anything home with you from the set?
-Did you have a favorite writer on the show?
-Which neighbor meshed best with Al, Steve or Jefferson?
-The writers brought your football & brazillian jiu jitsu background into the show. Did you have an interest or hobby that you told them was offlimits?
-Did you ever feel any burnout acting on this show, and if so, what kept you going?
Personal Life:
-What is for dinner tonight? (Look up Rich Eisen interview with Eric Stonestreet)
-What was it like having your wife guest star on an episode of MWC?
Godfather Episode:
-Talk about Lane Davies being heavily involved in theater. Lane appeared as Slim in “Of Mice & Men” (Ed played Lenny in the same theater production before being hired for the Al Bundy character)
-Angel Broadhurst (Salt Water): Christina Applegate’s boyfriend at the time
Misc. Questions:
-MWC meets Modern Family: I see the Jay Pritchett character having a similar personality to Al. Do you feel like Jay’s life was a nod to what Al’s would have been like if he had money.
-You and David have mentioned the Q-Tip scene as being one of your most memorable one from the show… could we convince you & David to reenact that one right now on the virtual couch?
I should not complain at all though. I was lucky enough to be on a Panel with the GOAT… Ed O’Neill. Al friggin’ Bundy.
