Oops… I forgot to mention the season. 🤦🏻♀️
We’re starting from the very beginning, so it’s Season 1! -

The pilot episode has got to be one of the best ever made and written. So many great lines in this episode. “Die Commi Bimbo!!” “ I want a balloon, You already got one!” I’ve been squeezing you foot into the shoe when I should’ve been easing it into the box!!” Where’s my Juice! Why didn’t you get me juice!” “ I stopped the bleeding with your slip!” “You could shave your back, hey that hairs there for a reason keeps you off of me at night!” “Lady you’re a 9! I can accept it why can’t you!” Too many to do. This and All in the Family are the two best written pilots ever. Don’t make shows like they used to.
-

Yeah, I’m totally with you on that. There were so many great jokes in this one. The cactus scene at the beginning is the best opening ever. Oh my God, and Kelly and Bud were still so young. So cute.
-

Al to Steve: “You know another thing that makes women such a blessing to us? It’s like when you’re sitting somewhere and they come over and they say to you, ‘What are you thinking?’ And you start thinking, ‘You know, if I wanted you to know, I’d be talking.’”
_____It’s such a simple joke, and anyone who doesn’t enjoy this kind of humor will probably think it’s a silly thing to say. But somehow, it’s funny because it’s 100% true.
-

In the shoe store
LV: Listen, Al, I forgot to tell you. I got an extra ticket to the Bulls-Lakers game tonight. Court level. Wanna go?
A: Hell yeah!
LV: You sure your wife’ll let you?
A: Let me tell you something. No woman tells Al Bundy what to do.
C: Hey, you! Get my shoes.
A: Yes, ma’am.
_____This is something that changed in the later seasons. They were all so much nicer to each other back then. I don’t think the later Al would ever have said, “Yes, ma’am.”
-

Yea. Al eventually would’ve chewed her a new one and insulted her right out the door. I love seeing the evolution of Ed’s portrayal over the years.
-
-

And I love how smart the writing was like how it all comes full circle so by the end of the episode the tides have turned and Steve is sayin the same line “well honey if I wanted you to know then…….” Looks right at Al like he’s a prophet lol
-
-

1000 percent agree. when i rewatched that pilot it blew me away. it’s basically perfect. “Well, Marcy, looks like you have a nice piece of clay to work with”. Soo many great lines

Luke Ventura actor should def be a guest. Haven’t seen or heard from him in awhile. He was funny on the show for the short period that he was there.
-

Luke Ventura isn’t a character I can really relate to. He’s just too smooth for my taste. But I could definitely see Ritch Shydner as a guest too, especially since he was part of the show’s early years.
-

we shall get him

Thinergy, episode 2 is great. I love the idea of Peg forcing the family to diet is hilarious. The only problem is they usually can’t find a corn flake or tang wipe so I don’t think her dieting would hurt. lol. I love when Steve looks at the screen with Al and sadly says, “I used to love SMUT!” Al says, Dammit Steve were men, it’s our god given right to watch sports and smut! Since when do we have to apologize for that!” I love how Al just slowly but slowly starts to turn Steve’s character toward his side
-

some great moments in Thinergy, but not my fave episode. A LITTLE INSIGHT THO: when Al is feeding her the eclair at the end, and he’s saying “Eat it, eat it all”, in the original Table Draft we hear Marcy off camera from outside yell “WAY TO GO PEGGY!” ha. we lost that one to the censor’s unfortunately.
-

I would love to hear some of the lines/scenes that the censors wouldn’t allow you guys to do.
-

I absolutely love hearing stories like this. Seriously… my God, they were strict back then! Marcy’s line would’ve made that scene even funnier.
-

The bigger question is – did you understand the joke at 13 or did someone explain it to you? Would have gone right over my head!
-
-

By the way, after the eclair moment, I absolutely love this story:
Al to Peg: “Let me tell you something. Not just ’cause I don’t go to bed with you doesn’t mean I don’t love you. I mean, let’s face it. Even if you were beautiful like that girl on TV, I’d still ignore you. ‘Cause you’re my wife. Now stick around, okay? Let me tell you what I mean. Remember that baseball glove my dad gave me when I was a little kid? I loved that glove. Yeah, it’s old and the web’s loose, but it’s special to me. That’s how I feel about you, Peg. I may not tell you all the time, but I love you. I wouldn’t do anything to change you. I think you’re great, just the way you are.”
_____
It’s such an honest scene, and I love the imagery. The comparison with the old baseball glove is just wonderful. I don’t know if they were ever this loving with each other again. And I don’t think they ever kissed this much again.

It be cool if we could post photos in these comment threads. I’ve seen so many screenshots from these episodes that I would love to post. But I can’t at least not on my cell
-

I shall ask Brian aka the GZA if we can make that happen

“So all I have to do is starve and be miserable for for a week and my life will go back to the normal Hell is always was?!?!” – Al Bundy
-

“Thinnergy” out of these 4 for me.
-

But i didn’t shoot the deputy is hilarious. Marcy starts to do her crazy fantasies of torture and death. But seems so overjoyed talking about it. They always go back to these moments thru the entire run. Amanda always sells it so well. “Anyone would feel helpless in your room Marce!” Al shooting the dog in the middle of a bowel movement. Ha ha. This episodes awesome as fucked up as the premise is.
-
Actually have the first season of “Married…with Children” on DVD and Season 1 Episode 4 is a pretty good one. Al Bundy is looking over the bills and wants the family to cut back on electricity and such. Then he asks Bud to turn off the light in the living room. Al starts to walk into the living room and complains on how he can’t see anything 😆

Very busy week for me plus we will have an assigned episode from professor Faustino soon.
Love this idea and I’ll join next round.
Maybe each rotation a different member chooses 4 episodes but they can’t be the obvious ones.
-
Found out about this BundyClub website on David Faustino’s FB page yesterday and was completely thrilled that you can actually join in with the Zoom meetings regarding episodes. Still learning.
-

Glad you found the Bundy Club. Welcome to the Bundy family! Whoa Bundy BundyGal 🙌🏻
-
-

That’s how it should be. Everyone should just join whenever they have the time and feel like it.
My hope is that lots of different members will suggest episodes over time—whether it’s one, two, or… There don’t really need to be any rules. And since we never know who the next Zoom guest will be, those discussions will always bring a completely different perspective. Even if we’ve already watched an episode together, the guest often shares stories or behind-the-scenes insights that make you see it in a whole new way.
I see this as something that complements the Zooms—a fun way to keep the conversations going between them. Let’s just see how it develops naturally.

See my reply to Tim re some behind the scenes info about a joke we had to cut at the end of THINERGY heh heh
-

That’s awesome David! Ha ha, that’s some cool crazy trivia nobody would know. That would’ve been funny but I see why they had to cut it.
-

Hey David, another two guest suggestions, what about Bobcat Goldthwait maybe or Linda Blair??? I’m going to a con in NJ in a few weeks and Joey Lauren Adam’s will be there and I’m gonna ask her about coming on the podcast. See if she will give us a video shoutout maybe!

-

Who the hell would want to come over here?
-Al
Classic.
-

Yeah, absolutely. (“I hate these people.”)
-
-

OMG, no. I completely disagree. The episodes were definitely different, but not any less funny. I actually love watching how the characters – and the show itself – evolved over time.
-

Yea. I’m the opposite. I love the earlier seasons especially cause they were less slapsticky. The No Ma’am stuff was fun but I love some of the early stuff especially. I love the Steve episodes also.
-

I love them alll though especially considering what’s supposed to be entertaining today
-

The earlier seasons gave us Sam Kinison as a guardian angel, the Xmas episodes, the infamous Camping Period show, too many to name.
-

I learned to appreciate the earlier seasons as I got older. I relate more to Al than I ever thought I would. The street lamp and phone charge episode is just a perfect example of things I couldn’t relate to watching as a kid.
-

Once we’ve finished Season 1, Episodes 1–4, what should we watch next? I’d love to hear your suggestions.
-

How about Season 2, Episodes 1-4?
-

Yes, absolutely! I’d love to. I’m in.
I think it would make sense to start a new post. Would you like to do it, or should I?
