We at the Bundy Club already had a deep dive into discussing this episode, so I will not do that here. I will just present some notes and trivia that I discovered when “going down the rabbit hole” while studying this episode for the modcast.
Guest Cast:
Danny Bonaduce – Partridge Family
Dave Madden – Played the Partridge Family band manager, Reuben Kincaid
Gary Coleman – Diff’rent Strokes (Also appeared in Season 10 “The Joke’s on Al” as a wedding officiant)
Joni Allen – starred in The City for 5 seasons, and guest starred on Boy Meets World.
*Al refers to Farmer Iggy’s Almanac, also referenced in S05 Wabbit Season
*Al said that their fence was built by Peggy in a “slip shod” manner. A “slip shod” fence has horizontal slats, while the fence boards in the episode are vertical.
*Al mentions Mayor McCheese again, also mentioned in S05 The Godfather
*Dave Madden tells Danny to “Come on, get happy” which was party of The Partridge Family’s theme song.
*This was the first episode that the audience sees a female get electrocuted, but it is not the first time it happens. Kelly is electrocuted, off-screen, by her Bundy Shoe Lights in S03 episode The Dateless Amigo.
*Al mentions Ted Danson, knows as Sam Malone in Cheers. Ed O’Neil auditioned for the role of Sam Malone in 1982.
Al says a line that caught me WAAAAAYYYY off guard while talking to Gary Coleman… “They might not let you in, because the only black person they respect is Ted Danson.” My first thought was where the heck did that come from? So I did some research… the same year as this episode, 1993, Ted Danson appeared in blackface at a comedy roast for his then girlfriend, Whoopi Goldberg (Whoopi supposedly put Ted up to it).
