Married with Children: No Maam Crews Wacky Neighbor Dream and Fan Trivia Geniuses

A No Maam reunion guest in a Bundy Club trucker hat during a BundyClub.com watch party

I ran one of our most fun Bundy Club watch parties to date. Got the No Maam crew on Zoom for a reunion: Griff (Harold Sylvester), Bob Rooney (Steve Williams), Ike (Tom McCleister), plus our writer Richard Gurman. And in the middle of all the war stories from the Garrison and the bar, a fan question opened up something I wasnt expecting.

Our member Jackie asked the guys what it felt like to be remembered for a cult classic decades after the show wrapped, and one of the No Maam guys gave the answer that absolutely killed me. He said his dream had always been to play a wacky sitcom neighbor, and Married with Children made that dream real. Then the joke landed even harder when it came out that he literally IS a wacky neighbor now, in Florida, to some unsuspecting family. “Toms one too.” So the No Maam crew is basically the Florida wacky-neighbor squad, which is a sitcom premise I think I just accidentally pitched.

But the part that got under my skin was what came next. The guys started laughing about how at a fan convention, whenever somebody asks them a trivia question about MWC, the FAN almost always knows the answer better than the actor does. Specific lines, side gags, cold opens, what episode somebody walked through frame in. Gone from their heads, locked tight in the fans heads.

And I will be the first to put up my hand. I get corrected on social media constantly. I once posted that Ed never broke the fourth wall, a sentence Im now never living down. Fans were in my comments within minutes with timestamps. He did it plenty. I was wrong about my own show. And I love it.

Thats the whole point of doing this. Running the Bundy Club, hosting the watch parties, getting these guys back on a call. The fact that the show lives on this hard, this long, in this much detail, in your heads. We made one TV show for ten years between 1987 and 1997 and people are still cataloguing every beat 30 years later. That doesnt happen by accident. That happens because something connected.

The No Maam reunion was full of moments like this. The way the guys talked about how nobody thought No Maam would become the merchandise hit of the show. The way Bob Rooney bits still get yelled at Steve Williams in grocery stores in 2026. The way Griff is now a college-basketball Hall-of-Fame memory AND the head bouncer of the Jiggly Room for sitcom nerds at the same time. These guys lived a whole second life because of what we shot on Stage 16 at Sunset Gower.

So thank you, Jackie, for the question. And thank you, every fan who has ever corrected me about my own show. You keep us honest, you keep the trivia sharp, and you are the reason any of this still exists. Youre why the show wont die.

A Florida wacky-neighbor squad? That’s just the Bundy household with better weather and worse hair. Fans knowing more than the cast is officially a Polk High tradition.
