My Married… with Children Script – MOVIN’ ON UP

Married with Children movin on up script

So, here is a peek into the mind of an 18 year old me that I’ve never shared with anyone. I wrote this script around 1993, and I only remember that because Seven makes a brief appearance. Even at my young age, I could tell they were keeping his screen time to a minimum and I followed suit.

The story is fairly simple, and I think holds up, but the dialogue on the other hand isn’t great. The main story revolves around Marcy and Jefferson moving away from the Bundys. They are excited tonnage the neighborhood m, and Marcy is thrilled to get away from Al.

Peg realizes that if they move away, she will basically have no friends. She convinces Al to help her sabotage any house they are considering buying in an attempt to keep them where they are. Al wasn’t on board until Peg reminds Al that without Marcy and Jefferson coming over, that will give Al more time to spend with the family… which immediately changes his perspective.

I’ve attached some of the pages of the script that I wrote on a janky old word processor, mimicking what I saw other scripts looked like. The plan was to just “send it in” which I never did. I think I realized that is not how the industry, unions, writing, or just life works… lol?

Anyway, hope you enjoy it!

Heyy. Wasn’t able to give it a read quite yet, but good on ya for writing!

That’s incredible. I love it. Honestly, I don’t think anything we write ever feels 100 percent perfect to us. Considering how young you were back then, and the fact that you did all of this completely on your own… hats off to you!
I really love your imagination because I think when you write, you need to be able to see the scene in your mind. At least, that’s how I feel about it.
    Thanks for sharing this!

This is great! Thanks for sharing! I love how for 18 you really had the subtle mannerisms and banter that really makes for an authentic Bundy experience. It was so much like them, I even read it in their voices. Well done!

    Appreciate the kind words!

Unfortunately the pages aren’t numbered, they are somewhat spread out and random, and seemingly uploaded backwards (even if they are sequential).

If I can upload them all in order at some point, I will!
