Katey Sagal was the heart of the set. Off camera, she was warm, grounded, focused, and generous. On camera, she became Peg Bundy, a whirlwind of hair, heels, and hilarious selfishness.
What made Katey special was her range. She could deliver a sarcastic one-liner with perfect timing, then turn around and bring emotional depth to a scene that the script barely hinted at. She elevated everything she touched.
Katey’s instincts were razor sharp. She knew when to push a joke further and when to pull back. She could make you laugh without saying a word, just a look, a gesture, a perfectly timed sigh. The audience loved her because she committed fully to every moment.
And the craziest part? Katey is a phenomenal singer, and some cast members didn’t even know at first. Her talent runs deep.
Working with Katey was a blessing. She was our set mom, the exact opposite of Peg, which is probably why it worked so beautifully.
