Help us pick a couple Episodes to Break down with David Garrison…

David Faustino

Greetings Bundy Club Fam. So I’m thinking that this week we actually choose 2 or 3 episode to discuss with DG. God, rewatching those episodes, I forgot just how brilliant and Genius he was as Steve Rhodes. This guy is a seasoned pro. lifelong actor of stage (big time, including Broadway), television and movies. (btw, as some of you know, David was the first person cast on MWC. He had worked with Ron and Michael on their previous show with Jason Bateman, “It’s Your Move” which I loved as a kid, and never imagined that very soon after that I would be working for them and with David.

When I reached out to him about choosing and episode he replied.. :”for an episode, I truly can’t imagine talking for an hour about any single one, so you’ll have to do a lot of the remembering. A few that come to mind are the first Christmas episode, the “lost episode,” the two-part male stripper episode, the bra episode, the Mustang episode, the beard episode, and “Peggy and the Pirate.” All good”

Soo, please reply here with your fave DG episodes (please include season and episode number if you’re able 😂) and we’ll choose the eps with the most votes! I am REALLY looking forward to catching up with David, as he’s an nyc dude and I don’t get to see him much at all. I DID however go see him on Broadway a few years back and he was brilliant.

Comment away with your picks!!! See you next Thursday, and WHOA (not the Joey Lawrence kind..but the Bun…ah never mind you get the point)

UPDATE: We picked 3 episodes…

I’d love to hear him talk about Season 4, Episode 1 – “Hot off the Grill,” and I believe it’s Season 4, Episode 4 – “Buck Saves the Day.” Oh – and Season 2, Episode 10 – “The Razor’s Edge.”

I was going to pick S1 Ep7 how about that one when Steve and Marcy volunteer to babysit the Bundy children, which quickly spirals into a nightmare that makes them swear off having kids forever that was a good one ?

I’m glad to see you picked two of my suggestions – although they’re all great.

“Her Cups Runneth Over”, (Season 3, episode 6); “I’ll See You in Court” (Season 3, Episode 10), which was the “hidden episode”. “Just Married…..with Children” (Season Two, Episode 20): Steve and Marcy pose as Al and Peg to beat the Bundys at their own game on the “How Do I Love Thee” newlywed game show. It culminates in a hilarious electric chair trivia finale where Steve screams: “Juice me ’til I’m ash! They’re not getting that car!”.”The Egg and I” (Season 6, Episode 17)

David Leisure played the host in that ep, from Empty Nest.

        Bink Winkleman LOL

Bill Maher was the host when you were on the dating game show.

    What about the trilogy:
    976-Shoe
    At the Zoo
    Who’ll stop the Rain

It has a great character arc showcasing the downfall of Steve.

And of course Hot off the Grill but I feel like that’s more of an ensemble cast episode. Everyone had scene stealing scenes which I think is why it’s a favorite.

And of course the one where Marcy dents Steve’s car and he can “no longer perform”. Great plot twist in it too.

How about Season 4, Episode 13 – “Who’ll Stop the Rain?”
When Steve works at the pet store and brings home the pet that gets in Marcy’s clothes.

The other one is Season 6, Episode 17 – “The Egg and I”

Buck Saves The Day. & The Razors Edge. Be best double feature. I put a post up awhile back suggesting he come on and we do these two! Buck saves the day when he gets the poison ivy is him at his best! So funny

David Garrison on the next show is going to be awesome, David as Steve was brilliant, he is one the best actors ever for a sitcom, so detailed and precise, everything he did was perfect, every hand movement, every look.. Even if he didn’t have a line he was great! So funny. Perfect counter to the Bundy family, just a perfect mix of hatred and love for Al… times Steve and Al would get together on something and be best friends or times they didn’t want anything to do with one another a screw each other over. Hilarious! Genius writing. He portrayed that “torn between his own and Al’s truth” so well. It’ll be great to hear from him.

    I would say..
    The Razor’s Edge – S2 EP 10
The Harder They Fall – S3 EP 15
    Impo-dent – S2 EP 19
Alley Of The Dolls – S2 EP 9

    All great!!

I feel like season 2 was peak Steve Rhoades (yes, it’s spelt Rhoades) – episodes like The Razor’s Edge and Impo-Dent have already been mentioned, but they are excellent Steve episodes.
976-Shoe when Steve loses his job is noteworthy. I loved how they gave Steve an exit arc.

      David Faustino

Oh. Rhoades. I stand corrected. See i need this site to site..to set me straight. Ha. Lot’s of Razor’s Edge talk…

Okay, I’d go with the following:
    1. “The Egg and I” (6/17)
Steve has to flee from the FBI after stealing the egg of an endangered bird. On top of that, he wants to get back together with Marcy, not knowing that she’s already remarried.
    2. “The Poker Game” (1/08)
Steve is talked into joining Al’s weekly poker game and ends up gambling away his paycheck.
    3. “Who’ll Stop the Rain” (4/13)

    1. David Faustino Avatar
      David Faustino

I need to see this “who’ll stop the rain” episode. Also, “The Poker Game” is one of two episodes I am not in on the entire run of the show..I’m starting to see a pattern here with you… 🤔

Don’t forget everyone reminds us that Bundys were named after King Kong Bundy.

Rhoades was named after Dusty Rhodes.

Also, Luke Ventura was after Jesse Ventura.

I worked at WWE for 15 years. About once every few months I’d get a request for us to post the clip of Al Bundy welcoming everyone to Saturday Night’s Main Event. And every few month’s I’d have to tell the person requesting this that FOX owns that clip, not us.

Fifteen years at WWE and the Bundy name still tracked you down, of course it did. Al welcoming everyone to Saturday Night’s Main Event is the closest my dad ever got to a championship without pulling a hamstring. Tell FOX they can keep the clip, this family never sees a residual check anyway.

Charlie, that is not a list, that is a thesis. You have studied Steve Rhoades closer than anyone in my family ever studied my report cards. Pulling out Can’t Dance for the tap dancing is a real deep cut though, respect. You did the homework none of us Bundys ever turned in.

Season 4 Ep 3 Buck saves the day is a good Steve episode

Buck saves the Day is David at his best. He’s so funny physically in that episode. He even steals the attention from Al and is def the funniest part of the episode. When he starts hallucinating and talkin to voices in his head and says,”Oh look mother , I stepped in something icky!” And then passes out. Hilarious!!! Rewinded that back and forth all the time!

    1. David Faustino Avatar
      David Faustino

omg just watched it last night. hilarious. plus, my brother Michael is one of the kids we take camping lol

    2. Bud Bundy Avatar
      Bud Bundy

Steve hallucinating and announcing he stepped in something icky is basically unedited footage of my childhood, except nobody bothered to write me a punchline. And a dog stealing scenes from Al is just the family pet outacting the entire household. Solid pick, Tim.

My vote is 976-SHOE. Watching Steve lose his job and slide down into our orbit was the closest my family ever got to good news. Pair it with The Razor’s Edge so everyone can see Steve back when he still had his dignity, before living next to us wore it down to nothing. Honestly DG was the only functioning adult within fifty feet of that house.
