Zoom with Ed O’Neill (Al Bundy) on June 11th 6PM PT

Get ready, Bundy fans – the king himself is showing up… and we’re diving into one of Al’s most legendary power trips.

On Thursday, June 11th at 6PM PT, Ed O’Neill (the one and only Al Bundy) is joining our live Bundy Breakdown Zoom Watch Party. And we’re not just shooting the breeze – we’re reviewing Season 5, Episode 13: “The Godfather.”

Married… with Children ran for 11 seasons from 1987 to 1997 and basically invented the anti-sitcom. While other shows were handing out hugs and life lessons, the Bundys gave us dysfunction, sarcasm, and pure chaos. It was edgy, politically incorrect, and way ahead of its time – and it turned a miserable shoe salesman into one of the most beloved characters in TV history. Even today, the show still feels fresh because the Bundy family was always a little too real.

If you grew up watching it, you know this one. Kelly starts dating a much older, connected city councilman named Harry. Al is furious at first… until he realizes the guy can fix potholes, pull strings, and make life in the neighborhood a whole lot easier. Suddenly Al’s running the block like a true Godfather – making offers people can’t refuse, collecting favors, and living the high life (Bundy style). It’s classic Al: one minute he’s broke and miserable, the next he’s the boss… until it all comes crashing down in the most Bundy way possible.

Who is Ed O’Neill?

Ed O’Neill (born April 12, 1946) is the actor who turned a miserable shoe salesman into one of the most iconic TV characters of all time. For 11 seasons he lived and breathed Al Bundy – the guy who hated his job, loved his couch, and somehow made every week feel like a victory for the little guy.

Outside the Bundy house, Ed went on to play Jay Pritchett on Modern Family for 11 seasons, proving he could do warm and lovable just as well as grumpy and legendary. But let’s be honest… we all still see Al every time he opens his mouth. And on June 11th, we get to hear the real Al talk about one of his most over-the-top episodes.

The Episode We’re Reviewing: “The Godfather” (Season 5, Episode 13)

Aired February 3, 1991, this episode is peak Married… with Children chaos. Kelly’s new boyfriend has serious pull with the city, and Al wastes no time turning it into his own personal empire. Potholes get fixed, favors get called in, and Al starts walking around like he owns the block. It’s got everything: Al’s ego inflating to dangerous levels, Peg enabling it, Bud trying (and failing) to stay out of it, and Kelly being… well, Kelly.

The title is a direct nod to The Godfather movies (Part III had just hit theaters a month earlier), and Al delivers some of his best “offer you can’t refuse” lines in the whole series. It’s funny, it’s ridiculous, and it’s 100% Al Bundy at his most delusional and lovable.

Our Previous Bundy Breakdown Zoom Watch Parties

We’ve already had some killer nights. We kicked things off in April with the pilot episode and co-executive producer Richard Gurman. Then Amanda Bearse (Marcy herself) joined us for “Nightmare on Al’s Street” and dropped some wild behind-the-scenes stories. Last month Griff, Bob Rooney, and Ike came through to talk NO MA’AM and relive some of their best moments. The energy has been unreal every single time – and it’s only getting better.

Watch Party Homework

Thursday, June 11th at 6PM PT Ed O’Neill is dropping in live while we break down Season 5 Episode 13 – “The Godfather.”

Watch it beforehand so you can follow along and ask Ed the real questions.

Become a Bundy Lurker, Slacker Starter, or go full Elite Sloucher if you want the best seats in the house (and maybe even get called on by Al himself).

*On Amazon Prime “The Godfather” is listed as Episode 14

Why This Matters

This is the closest most of us will ever get to sitting on the Bundy couch with Al Bundy while he talks about the time he became the Godfather of the neighborhood. Ed O’Neill isn’t just an actor – he is Al. The voice, the attitude, the tired nod of disappointment… it’s all him. We’re talking behind-the-scenes stories, what it was like filming those power-trip scenes, and probably a few choice words about politicians and potholes.

Final Call

Mark your calendar. Clear your schedule. Put on your best (or worst) NO MA’AM shirt.

Thursday, June 11th at 6PM PT – Ed O’Neill is coming to the Bundy Club to relive “The Godfather.”

Don’t be the guy who missed it. Al would never forgive you.

I can’t wait for this!!!! Huge Ed fan. From Popeye Doyle, Dutch, Little Giants , Cruising, Bone Collector, Lucky Numbers, Ford Fairlane, & that’s not even touching on two of the best tv characters of all time. I only wish I could’ve seen his version of Lenny in Of mice and Men that brought him to Als audition. I’m sure he did that great as well. I’ve requested Ed for conventions more than any other celeb. This is as close as it gets to meeting the legend. Hope I get a chance to say hi to him. This is freakin awesome!!!

    Only a few more days.
I watched the latest interview with him on YouTube and honestly, I could listen to him for hours.
If someone had told 13-year-old me that this would actually happen one day, I would have laughed and said, “Yeah, right.”
    And yet, here we are.

So Slacker Starter members and everyone have to pay $150 to see the Ed O’ Neil Zoom Watch Party?

@messenlehner look at you, actually helping people find their invites and asking nothing in return. That is more useful information than anyone in my family has ever volunteered in their lives. Keep it up, you are making the rest of us Bundys look bad, which I will admit is not a tall order.

@thebcmc650 a hundred and fifty bucks to hear my dad talk for two hours? That is highway robbery, and trust me, the Bundys know robbery intimately. Good news is it looks like Messy already sorted you out. Premium members get the Zoom link by email. Grab a seat on the couch.

3am is rough! 10am is marginally better for this night owl. 😉

How do we get Ed link?

@sudekk setting a 3AM alarm in Europe just to watch my dad relive the one week he ran the neighborhood like a mob boss. That is more commitment than Al ever showed up with for anything, my birth included. Brew the coffee, it is absolutely worth the lost sleep.

@turbocoder2026 you wore out the VHS tapes, then the DVDs, then moved to streaming. That is three separate formats of devotion to a family that could never keep a single appliance running for a week. Sorry you didn’t get called on, but hanging back so newer folks get a turn is more class than anyone in my house ever showed. Your luck turns next round.
